Steelage was engaged as the General Contractor for a full-scale tenant improvement of a Mucho Burrito location in North Vancouver, BC. Our scope encompassed the complete transformation of an existing retail unit into a vibrant, high-performance Mexican-style restaurant—designed to support fast-paced food service operations while reflecting the bold and energetic Mucho Burrito brand.
From initial demolition to final turnover, Steelage managed every phase of the project lifecycle. The objective was to convert a legacy commercial footprint into a fully compliant, efficient, and visually engaging quick-service restaurant environment—balancing robust back-of-house infrastructure with a welcoming front-of-house dining experience.
The project began with a controlled demolition phase, including the removal and responsible disposal of outdated finishes such as tile, flooring, and wall systems. Given the active commercial surroundings, our team implemented strict dust control and floor protection protocols to maintain cleanliness and minimize disruption.
Following site preparation, we executed a precision structural build-out:
Installation of commercial-grade steel stud framing and high-quality drywall assemblies, including detailed finishing to achieve smooth, durable surfaces suitable for a high-traffic restaurant environment.
Careful scheduling and coordination of all trades ensured seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems—critical for food service operations including kitchen exhaust, prep areas, and customer zones.
Restaurant environments demand highly specialized infrastructure. Steelage delivered a complete systems upgrade to meet both operational and regulatory requirements:
Installation of new lighting systems, switches, and receptacles tailored to both kitchen efficiency and customer ambiance. Power distribution was designed to support commercial kitchen equipment and point-of-sale systems.
Coordinated installation of plumbing, drainage, and ventilation systems to accommodate food preparation stations, sanitation requirements, and HVAC performance
All work was completed under strict municipal permitting, including adherence to health codes, fire safety regulations, and seismic compliance—ensuring a safe and fully certified restaurant space
The final phase focused on delivering a bold, brand-aligned interior that enhances customer experience:
Installation of durable, easy-to-maintain flooring and wall finishes designed for high-traffic food service environments, paired with clean and modern trim details.
The dining and service areas were enhanced with vibrant design elements reflecting Mucho Burrito’s identity—creating an inviting and energetic atmosphere.
Fabrication and installation of custom service counters, food prep stations, and integrated menu/display areas—engineered for both efficiency and visual appeal.
Precision installation of unique design features and branded elements to reinforce the restaurant’s modern, casual aesthetic.
Through hands-on project management and rigorous on-site supervision, Steelage maintained schedule integrity and quality control throughout the build. Upon completion, the site underwent a full professional cleaning and final inspection process.
The restaurant was delivered in a fully operational, turnkey condition—ready to serve customers from day one.
This project demonstrates Steelage Construction Ltd. expertise in delivering high-performance restaurant environments that combine operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strong brand expression—tailored to the dynamic food service landscape of North Vancouver.
